Wilsons Promontory overnight hike.

SORRY FULLY BOOKED – NEXT HIKE TASMANIA EARLY 2020

November 30th – December 1st, 2019
A hike to challenge, inspire and reconnect yourself with nature.

Wilsons Promontory  30th Nov – 1st Dec 2019

Located on the East Coast of Victoria, with picturesque views through bushland, along cliff tops, to lookouts of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the world.

This hike includes an overnight stay at the Lightstation. Therefore each hiker will take their food, water, sleeping gear, weather requirement clothing, hats etc.
Each hiker is to wear comfortable hiking shoes/trail runners to ensure their feet are protected, but most importantly, so you are able to comfortably walk the distance required.

Two group options:
35 km day one walk 20km day two walk
25.5km day one walk, 20km day two walk

Friday night accomodation : Tidal River

Start location:

35km track – Telegraph Saddle to Sealers Cove, Little Waterloo Bay then the Lighthouse station.

  • Sealers Cove is a picturesque, circular cove boasting glassy turquoise water, and golden sand. a
  • The walk to Sealers Cove has a great variety of single trails, to boardwalks and the elevation is not crazy. Beautiful track and stunning view just before you hit the beach.

25.5km track – Telegraph Saddle to Little Waterloo Bar then the Lighthouse station

Little Waterloo Bay

  • Little Waterloo Bay has a lovely white sand beach and crystal blue water.
It’s soft sand to walk through but it’s so beautiful you won’t feel the challenge.

Lighthouse Station

  • The walk to Lighthouse station is very pretty, overlooking cliff tops and amazing tall trees to hike through.
  • We finish at the lighthouse station for the night where will have bunk beds in a shared accomodation scenario.
  • We have full kitchen and bathroom amenities plus fresh water to refill.

  • Group will stay Friday night in accommodation at Tidal River so we can start walking early Saturday morning.
The group will finish the walk Sunday by midday and return back home, ready for another week back in reality.
– National Park pass
– Friday accommodation before the walk commences
– All meals and hiking snacks
– Saturday night lighthouse accommodation
Each hiker must supply their own water – we can refill at Lighthouse station.
Provide own sleeping bag and pillow (pillow for Tidal river only), towel.
I will give each hiker a checklist so as they can be prepared for the walk.

Transport to and from Wilsons Promontory is not included, all hikers will organise their own way there, or car pooling will be available as well.

The Sealers Cove loop is a solid 35.5kms, which means a certain level of fitness and experience in overnight hiking will serve you well.

As it’s a popular hike, the tracks are well signed, there are no rubbish bins, so we need to be responsible and take our rubbish with us.

The terrain is challenging in some areas, and there are boardwalks throughout some swamp areas, the beaches are beautiful, and some have that deep soft sand to walk through.

The elevation is good, challenging again, but what goes up must come down as they say – so great variety of tree lined tracks, open air, rock formations and sandy beaches.

It’s a hikers paradise.

Drinking water is located at each of the main overnight hiking campsites, as are drop toilets.

I will issue more hiking notes to those interested. I’m happy to work in your training to prepare for this hike.

Thank you so much for making me comfortable and confident to go on my first ‘golf trip’ I have not expanded such positive energy on myself for such a long time, and feel like I found a bit of ‘me’ in tassie.

I enjoyed the company the challenge and just the chance to breathe.
