In memory of Wayne:

Today’s health advice is about toxins.

Most of Wayne’s working life was a diesel mechanic – following dad’s profession.
Wayne started as an apprentice diesel mechanic when he was in year 11- having had helped dad out in our family business, he was always having his hands in oil and covered in petrol, grease – you name it – he inhaled these fumes daily for many many years.

Wayne’s love later in life was to restore a few old Holden’s with dad (as pictured).

But as I have researched and discovered that the toxins and heavy metals in these solvents and substances are so poisonous.

So to add to Wayne’s inner cells being damaged from stress, artificial sweeteners, not getting enough sleep he was also damaging his skin on a daily basis.

As your skin is the largest organ on the body – continual exposure to such toxin products on a daily basis also added to Wayne’s health concerns.

Mechanics in general do not wear gloves or masks, wash parts in oil or petrol, and it seriously seeps into their skin and into their hair follicles. They certainly do smell like ‘grease monkeys’.

NOTE: You should only put product on your skin that is safe to eat, because like eating it – you absorb it – so does your skin. So if you cannot eat something – NEVER put it in your hair or on your skin!! – Period!!!

Mechanical injury or chemical injury to the skin damages the skin’s defensive barrier layer, rendering the skin more susceptible to further mechanical or chemical injury.
Damage to the barrier layer increases the risk of infection (that’s inflammation, and inflammation causes STRESS on the body, and also increases the risk of developing contact allergy, since potential allergens can gain access to the immune competent cells in the deeper layers of the skin. Some foreign substances gain access to the skin via sweat ducts and/or hair follicles, by-passing the skin barrier.

This can break down your immune system as the cells are trying to fight off a foreign object. We certainly were not made to deal with grease oil and petrol and especially on a day to day basis.

Being a diesel mechanic – there were high expectations in this field as well – like we all know truck drivers are on a tight schedule and had to get load after load done to get paid – if they broke down, there’d be many a night Wayne would be out till all hours fixing the trucks so as they’d get back on the road.
Also a diesel mechanics lifestyle was hard labour, for little pay (more stress), in some extreme conditions – but none more so that the pure toxins seeping into their skin and inhaling them EVERYDAY!

Think like when you get a splinter you can see – your cells around that splinter go white and around that goes red – as the body is trying to heal the area – and get the splinter (foreign object) out.
The good thing with the splinter scenario is you can see it and do something to fix it before it gets too bad and seriously infected!

When the foreign object (toxic grease oil) gets into your inner cells they to start to build up the good cells to fight off this foreign invader – but the problem with this is that you cannot see this – and for many people they do not realise as ‘out of sight – out of mind’ – and they don’t do anything about it.
The body is continuously working to heal the cells so when this work is being done other jobs so to speak are put on hold as more and more cells are being effected due to all the toxins in the body. This causes free radicals that harm more cells-
Then you don’t get to do anything about this cells damage until it’s too late!

People may get symptoms of brain fog, lower immune system – so always feeling sick or unwell, catching colds all the time, their skin and hair will be brittle, cracking and taking longer to heal or grow. But for many people this becomes ‘normal’ – yes normal until they get a prognosis of cancer or some metabolic disease due to the toxic build up / free radical exposure in their body, their metabolism shuts down. It cannot work so you put on weight and more weight that can effect the hormones and they will not work correctly like they should.
When hormones are broken, it’s like a faulty switch – sometimes it shorts out and some days it might work at a very slow pace.

Please your take home from this is to eliminate as many toxins in and around your home as you can.
Round-up and other pesticides have been proven that they can cause infidelity in men and cause fertility concerns in women, along with creating an estrogen dominance in women, leading to thyroid issues and many many other concerns.
Check make-up, body products, hair products so that they contain no parabens.
Don’t microwave in plastic containers the plastic will seep toxins into your foods- don’t place hot food in plastic containers – use glass containers and then if need be put in plastic once cooled completely.

I know for some it’s your job, it’s your income, but maybe try to think of some ways to eliminate many of these toxic products.

So many great memories of Wayne crusin’ in his Holden Statesmans listening to Def Leppard and Aerosmith in his younger days, and his pride and joy restored cars as he matured (sort of) – with his LUVLEE number plates.
Keep crusin Wayne-O
