Everyone needs a plan
My biggest piece of advice is you need your own plan!
Stop buying into generic plans for training and nutrition. They are popping up every half an hour on social media to get you to sign up before Spring! These are proven to not work.
You first need to note your strengths and weaknesses, an example:
Strengths –
I do one big food shop each week
I am all about routine
I have a great friend to exercise with
I love to sleep
Weaknesses –
I love chocolate
I don’t have breakfast (I’m not hungry)
I am too busy
I complete a challenge then go off the rails
Once you know what’s on the list you then need to work at them ONE at a time, prioritize and tackle the one that’s most important to you and place that on the top of the list.
Working with a health coach is great to help you stay accountable to your plan, they can help you become aware why you have a weakness there and use your strengths to overcome those weaknesses.
Day 1 of Week 1 is not the same for you as it will be for another person in the generic 30 day challenge. What is on Day 1 may include shopping lists and prepping, but has it asked what your intolerances are? What you’re roster for work is? What your social events are? No it cuts you off from day one and makes you work to the number of reps to the time you eat so you look like the person in the advertised material of the “30 day challenge”. (Who took longer than 30 days to look like that!)
It hasn’t taken into account hormone imbalances from the last challenge you completed, it preaches to you to get to bed early (hard when you’re on nightshift?) and it doesn’t spot your form and range of movement or give you a modified exercise because of your pelvic floor issues!!
Please be mindful of what you sign up for – everyone is after a deal, but when it comes to your health and longevity I really advise you shop around and get onto a plan designed just for YOU, to protect you from not only muscle or joint pain, but from inner health pain.
Less is not more in this case.
Cheers
