Really – do you think this is correct?
Let’s look at some facts and see what you think after reading this…..
- Our brain is made up of 70% fat, so it needs fat to operate sufficiently. It’s like a diesel car – it runs on diesel not unleaded, so we need to run on fat not refined carbohydrates
- Heart, lungs, kidneys and other vital organs – our vital organs need layers of fat around them to keep warm and help function, if we are in an emergency situation be it lost in the bush, or any environmental situations – freezing cold of heat conditions, low immune system/colds, or recovery from operation we need our organs protected so as they can still function, so the layer of fat definitely helps in these situations. Think of babies when they get sick, so many mums say they are glad their child has good amounts of fat on them to survive.
- Nerves – our nervous system needs a sheath around them to help the messages travel around the body quicker and effectively. It’s like having a road full of pot holes – you cannot drive smoothly and quickly along roads with pot holes. So to have a good layer around your nerves creates a smoother ride with no bumps.
- Fat is one of the major building blocks of the body. It provides long term energy stores and needed cholesterol. While many people take statin drugs (to lower their cholesterol), it is the main component of cell membranes and is needed to maintain the integrity of EVERY cell in the body and to make many HORMONES.
Let’s visualize what happens to stubborn fat in a frypan after you’ve cooked some chops. After an hour or so the fat turns hard and sticks to the pan. What happens when you add hot fat to this pan again? It melts the stubborn fat in the pan which makes it slip off easier.
NOW think of this on the inside of your body. You eat a heap of refined carbs and they break down into sugar. When you don’t use the sugar within the hour or so, it turns to stubborn fat which just sits inside you.
However when you eat good fats, they enter your digestive system (think of them as the hot oil), then these good fats contact/ flows into the stubborn old fat, which then makes the stubborn fat inside you start to melt away!
There is a saying “fat slips, sugar sticks”….and so what I have explained above is exactly that.
As for cholesterol trolls – well we need cholesterol to help send messages through our nervous system. The reason we get fog brain or get the message wrong is because we don’t eat good fats to help build the good cholesterol that helps digestion, helps produce bile for our bowels to ensure our waste is excreted, and protects our nervous system, so when all of these actions happen our minds become sharper we don’t get brain fog and most importantly – we have fed the brain.
No study has proven that eating fat causes high cholesterol – this has been a myth many years ago about men eating a lot of fatty meat and dying of heart attacks, however in that era cigarette smoking was a huge influence, but it was never spoken about the cause and effects of nicotine.
Fat lubricates your joints around your bones – whereas carbohydrates dry out your body. Therefore eating fat in your diet, helps to keep the joints soft and spongy, it supports the joints and therefore the bones have enough protection and do not grind against each other. Whereas when you are on a high carbohydrate diet the joints can become brittle due to dryness. Think of all the cartilage damage done in athletes or exercise enthusiasts because they have been bogusly told to ‘carb load’ pre endurance events – or any event for that matter!
A big bowl of pasta will dry out the joints and will break down into sugar – 16 teaspoons of sugar in fact.
One more fact for you all – I’ve been increasing the fat in my diet of late, and I work closely with my Naturopath to monitor my health and have regular body analysis. Basically I am a body hacker, to be of help to myself and my clients. I have always tried and tested workouts before setting these for my clients to complete, and the same goes with my health and my nutritional diets. If I understand how my body adapts and reacts, I can help guide my clients to find a nutritional plan that could suit them.
So my latest test results (two weeks) from eating a diet high in fat –
lost 1.5kg in weight
lost 1.4kg of FAT
gained 200gms of muscle.
So my skeptical friends – eating fat will NOT make you fat!!!
I have attached a great offer for a detox, strength and mobilization program that could be just the start you need Fat burn and detox the 2017 way
