Dairy of competition prepping
#7weeksout
The roller coaster continues……….
Got through the birthdays, Nate and mine, and we have Archer’s to go in two weeks. My birthday was a struggle, I always like to balance things in life, with celebrations and training hard, there is a place for each. Unfortunately in this case there was not room for each, it is all or nothing. So I got over it and realized my birthday cake will be had in just over 7 weeks!
Each day becomes a mind game and as much as I try to keep myself busy, you can’t help but be obsessed by all the food prep, body image and self doubt as to whether I’ll be ready or not.
This week my diet changed on the Friday to
Meal 1: 100gm chicken, 60g sweet potato and some spinach
Meal 2: 100gm chicken and broccoli
Meal 3: 115gm fish, asparagus, kale and spinach
Meal 4: 100gm chicken and spinach
Meal 5: 130gm fish, cauliflower, zuchinni and beans
Meal 6: Protein shake with flaxseed oil and pysillum husks
Each meal I have lemon juice or balsamic vinegar over the top for flavour and incorporate flaxseed oil and fish oil into my diet daily, along with Vitamin B, magnesium and Glutamine.
I feel tired by the end of the day because on top of my everyday work as a trainer, lifting weights for clients and being on my feet all day, I have to complete two training sessions a day which is burning a lot of energy. I need to do this to burn body fat, I still carry a lot of body fat and I need to get this down as much as I can.
My doubts this week have been the about the size I am, as in shoulder size, not sure I’m big enough in my muscles come comp day. It’s all about size in this category, so I may have missed this comp, I’m not sure. In one way I still want to compete as it’s my first, I’m proud of where I’m at and what I’ve done. It’s not about winning, it’s about the journey and I really am considering giving this sport a go for the next couple of years, getting bigger and stronger and feeling amazing at each achievement I make. (Well that’s this weeks thought???)
What will get me through this week is a one on one posing session with Vikki, getting her feedback and guidance to help me feel confident. Vikki will give me her opinion on what “relaxed” stance I will go with on comp day and she will fine tune my poses so as I can practise, practise, practise!
So this week it’s all about training again, getting familiar with my new diet and getting my posing down pack. Next week it’ll be a naturopath update and nutritional balance. I may need some more supplements for energy. It’s been a big learning process on the timing of food and supplements to help the body keep going.
The moods swings are very strong and I am aware of my impatience as soon as I raise my voice. I also need to ask the naturopath for some help with this as well. It’s hard when you take the kids to the movies and you pack them a snack bag of lollies and a biscuit, whilst I pack my snack bag of celery and plan my long black coffee just as we walk into the movies!
I weigh in on a Sunday and am happy to have lost more weight, few more kilo’s to go and I’ll be there. The abs are starting to show and the shoulders are getting leaner. Legs have reduced 2cm each in the last 3 weeks. It really does start to happen in these weeks and it’s absolutely amazing on how my body is looking.
I know I will have a huge amount competition, but really I think now it’s all about competing against myself!
Gotta go – it’s training time !!!!
