Energy come at me!!!
This week has been hard with energy levels; I need to not think about this so much. Everyday I am completing a cardio session on the stepper for 20-30 mins, trying more interval style now. Then later in the morning I am completing my weights session 40 mins, then each night this week I’ve gone for a walk while the boys scoot, for about 45 mins. I feel better after the walk as I always do whenever I finish exercising – can’t beat happy endorphins. However there is a fine line between working through the adrenal fatigue and letting your body rest.
I had the last of the birthday parties this week, thank goodness. Having a white chocolate mudcake in the house is just cruel! Glad I don’t go overboard with party food with my boys, so therefore the temptations are minimal.
I have been halving my meals and having them every 1.5 hours, this is helping me get through the day, still hungry at times, but celery is my best friend. I have dropped good amounts of weight each week, so I hope that continues and I’ll make my goal weight by comp.
I had my catch up with my naturopath this week and worked out some new natural adrenal boosts (so well needed right now) and fibre rich foods to incorporate into my diet:-
Licorice tea – it’s an excellent source of adrenal boost less the caffeine and good it’s for the bowels. I will incorporate this each afternoon with one or two cups of licorice tea.
Qi Detox green tea – it’s excellent for fat burn and also contains licorice, fennel seeds and dandelion root which helps clean out liver and kidneys plus intestines. I will incorporate at least 4 cups of this a day. So overall between water, protein shake, licorice tea and Qi detox tea I will still make sure a total of 5 litres are consumed.
Chia seeds will be added to my shakes or sprinkled on some meals as well as some ground flaxseed sprinkled on some meals to help boost the fibre. I used to eat so much fruit and never had an issue with fibre, but I have noticed a difference, so I need to keep on top of this. Pysillum husks are good, but need to change it up a bit more.
I was wrapped to get my results back from my naturopath after 3 months of strict eating and within that time frame I have started the prep diet. Since my last test 20th October, I have lost 4.7kg in weight, 4.43kg in fat, increased my muscle mass by 110gms. My quality of muscle is at 97% and my biological age has decreased another year (plus I have aged a year), so at 43 years of age – my biological is 37 years. My body fat is 16%, sitting lower than my ideal body fat range, which has always been a goal for me prior to this challenge. This is a fantastic result in such a short time. My hydration levels still need to be increased, but I have certainly been working on this and now with taking 2x vitamin B tablets a day, this should help boost things up for me. The fish oil and flaxseed oil is also a key ingredient to helping hydration levels. I have about 2 litres of fluid stored, so that come peak week I could potentially loose 2kg to help the leaning out process (this I can’t wait to see).
My next check up is the week of comp, so it’ll put this whole picture together for me and get me super pumped for the days leading up to the comp.
Let’s see if I can lose 3 kg of fat before this week plus the bonus of reducing fluid!
This has been one amazing journey so far. For the next few weeks I have to tweak my diet to see how my body reacts. Eating so often throughout the day has minimized the sweet sugar cravings. I don’t have any due to the blood sugar levels remaining level. Goes to show when you don’t eat on a regular basis with a balance of nutrients how your body crashes and craves the sweet things in life.
I have learnt to value food and all varieties of food. I will not abuse food anymore and ensure that a balance of all nutrients is within my weekly diet.
Now it’s all about the wait and see game…………….
