When we continuously think negative thoughts our body reacts in a way we do not realise.

We have a lot of fear based thoughts and you always get what you focus on.

It’s best to always focus on what you want and we struggle with this at times, because we are so negatively wired, we have fear based ideas, what will happen if I eat certain foods, or if I don’t do this much exercise etc.

Fear is real as it puts that thought or emotion in people’s brains and that’s what they focus on.

To lose weight:

Instead of focusing on “I can’t wait till I lose this weight”, “I’m excited to lose this unwanted weight”, what’s much better and more effective is “I can’t wait to wear those clothes”, “I can’t wait to get into my bathers”…

Change happens much faster when we run towards something instead of away from something and that’s true for perception versus reality so always focus on something positive instead of negative because your brain doesn’t know the difference.

Cortisol is affected because what you put attention on is what you’re going to get in your life..

You have control of this and your brain does not know the difference between perceived reality and actually reality – it is the same.

Cortisol gets disrupted very easily as cortisol is a super adaptor, and females are super adaptors.
We tolerate and adapt quickly, we are the ones mainly in the family to try to organise where the family needs to be, who goes here and who goes there, the time frames to get places, what to eat, have we got enough to eat, etc. All of these thoughts can cause distress and unease.

If these are put in a negative way, we disrupt the cortisol signals that will stay elevated without us realising.

Other negative contributions:

  • Technology coming in our lives this too can be negative
  • Disconnected to the sun not increasing vitamin D, which boosts our moods and thought patterns.
  • With screens late at night our late cortisol is disrupted and then we do not sleep well, our natural  melatonin process is pushed back effecting our sleep.
  • We stimulate our brains at night when it should be reducing, not getting the rest we need, causing toxins to not be removed during sleep, this makes our next day harder to chose the right foods to nourish, plus we still have built up toxins in our body – disrupting our inflammatory markers, making cortisol stay present.

All of this leads to belly fat and either stubborn weight loss or increased weight gain.

Try to think in a positive way, to remove the negative thoughts that does not help your health in 2021
